Up-to-date. Comprehensive. Professional.

A lot of advances have been made in the field of optometry in recent years, so we make sure we stay informed about the latest research, techniques and equipment. Every eye exam and other service is fully tailored to individual needs, but here is a general overview of the types of services we offer.

Comprehensive Eye Exams

Depending on your current eye health and risk for eye disease annual or biennial eye exams are important in maintaining your health maintenance. Dr. Winn, uses a variety of equipment and techniques to check the alignment, coordination, focusing ability of your eyes in addition to evaluating their health – from the tips of your eyelashes back to the retina and optic nerve.

Children’s Eye Exams

Knowing how to read is not a prerequisite for having an eye exam. In fact, children should have their first complete eye exam at 6 months of age, followed by annual exams starting at age 3. Many serious eye conditions don’t have obvious symptoms. Although a vision screening offered by a family doctor or your child’s school may detect certain eye conditions, a thorough eye exam by an optometrist will provide a much better indication of overall eye function and health.

Contact Lens Fitting and Evaluations

Interested in trying contact lenses? Or are you a current contact lens wearer who’s due for an assessment? We will find the right lens for your eye to ensure that you are achieving the best vision possible with the most comfortable and healthy lens available. We are equipped with a wide selection of soft contact lens brands and designs that can correct many vision issues, including myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), presbyopia (loss of near vision with age), and astigmatism. We also have experience fitting GP (gas permeable) lenses, also known as hard lenses.

Pre-operative and Post-operative Laser Vision Care

We work closely with both main laser-surgery centres in Ottawa, providing both pre-operative evaluation and post-operative care. Our goal is to ensure that your recovery from the surgery goes smoothly and that your eyes achieve the best outcome possible.

Eye Disorder Treatment

We have the training and experience to recognize and treat many common eye disorders from refractive issues (nearsightedness, farsightedness, etc.) to sight-robbing diseases like glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.

Many of these conditions can be treated in our office with prescription eyewear or medications. We will work closely with your family physician or ophthalmologist to screen for and co-manage systemic conditions including diabetes, hypertension and autoimmune diseases, especially in patients taking medications that carry a high risk of vision-related side effects.
